There are so many talented photographers out there who can capture that magical moment. To me, a magical moment is when the world stands still and everyone and everything is perfectly in their place. What is a magical moment to you?
Effortless Elegance
Effortless is the one word that immediately comes to mind when I think of Carolina Hererra’s wedding gowns. The woman has such a class and air about her which she translates into each wedding gown that she designs. One thing that is refreshing to see is when designers think outside the box and out of their comfort zone and that is just what Carolina Hererra has done in her 2011 bridal collection with this pastel jacquard print. I never thought that I would love a patterned bridal gown but in my opinion I think she nailed it.

Reception Artwork By Your Guest
This is one of the most original ideas for a wedding reception that I have seen in a very long time! Sure its known that you are to give the wedding guest a little favor to take home as a momento of the wedding but what about you and your groom? How about have your guest contribute to a collaboration of an original piece of artwork to adorn the wall of your home!
This particular couple had an artist friend draw out squares for each guest to paint.
The happy couple with their reception artwork.
You can achieve this abstract look if you simply have the guest to paint a stroke or two.

Summer Lovin’…
There is something about the summer that makes you fall in love all over again. Maybe it’s the yellow of the sun contrasting with the blue of the ocean or the blue of the sky contrasting with the green of the grass, whatever it is, it’s happy. When I think of summer, I think of happy thoughts!

Too Much Of A Good Thing?….NEVER!!
They always say that “too much of a good thing can be bad”. I highly disagree and Amanda Heer of Fantasy Floral Designs has the goods to prove that! Amanda hand picks each vintage brooch specifically for your brooch bouquet while taking into consideration your colors, your interest, loves, etc. It is truly astonishing to think that each individual vintage brooch has a story all its own! Oh to think the places these brooches have been throughout the years. Talk about the ultimate bridal heirloom to pass down to your children and their children.
The bride that this bouquet was made for has a beloved pet parrot.
Love the black, white and green scheme!

Picture Perfect Gratitude
How awesome is it to get married? I mean really. You get to have this great big party where you hand pick the guest list and have everyone to celebrate your marriage AND not to mention you get showered with gifts that YOU get to pick out! Its like Christmas for an entire year. Then the reality of ALL of the “Thank You” notes that you have to do sets in and the anxiety of the never ending stack starts to wear on you! You supposedly have one year to say “Gracias” but its not polite for the gift giver to be sitting around hoping that Pottery Barn really did deliver the gift that they ordered for you. Say “Thank You” promptly and in a style all your own. What better way than to send a pic of you and your hubs from your wedding day? It makes complete sense to remind them just how fabulous you looked on the big day. Lets be honest ,will you ever be able to get into that great of shape ever again? You worked out for months, grew out your hair, paid a big chunk of money for the dress of your dreams so you may as well milk it for all that its worth! Those gift givers that were unable to attend will feel like they were able to be a part of the festivities and those that were there will be reminded of just how awesome your big day was and how fabulous you looked!

Perfect Postage!
As you already know, postage is expensive. The only way to truly cut cost on postage is to cut the guest list. For those of you who have to invite everyone that your Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Aunt and Uncle know’s, here are a few cute one’s for you to choose from. If you can’t find something you love, you can always design your own. (For an additional fee of course!)

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Bling Things….
You either love it or you hate it, that is when it comes to the bling. Possibly old but probably new!
If you haven’t started thinking about your wedding day jewelry, there is no time like the present. Most fashionistas know that the idea of hand-made chunky necklaces are the new “in” but how do you translate that into your wedding day? A few great concepts are below. You could have a family friend crotchet you a unique piece or use some heirloom lace to create a stunning look. No matter what you decide, you can’t go wrong.

Every Little Thing Is Gonna Be Alright….
Its been one of those weeks to say the least. The week where everything seems to be going awry and then I recall “Ahhh yes, its time for my quarterly melt down”. Aint no shame in this game and my husband knows to steer clear when this quarterly meltdown occurs. It happens to the best of us and probably more frequently now that you are planning a wedding. When the going gets tough and the thoughts of you and your honey eloping keep popping into your head and you simply want to say “the heck with all this wedding planning and stressing”, just sit back, take a deep breath and remember what our dear friend Bob tells us…. “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright”. Below is an inspiration board that makes me feel calm and I hope it does the same for you if you too are having your quarterly meltdown!

Southern style…ball gowns!

The Dog Days of Weddings
A wedding is unique in the fact that this is the one time in your life that you truly get to hand pick each person that you wish to surround you on your big day. Considering this is the case why would you leave out your most loyal friend of all….your pet. I’m talking dogs here people because lets face it everyone hates a cat. Seriously. There are several ways to include your furry friend even if your church or wedding venue has a strict NO PETS ALLOWED policy. You can still have your dog partake in the pre wedding pictures. Why should your loyal love miss out on the happiest day of your life? He or she shouldn’t and that is exactly why dogs are becoming more and more involved in the wedding day.

Not that there is anything wrong with recycling others ideas, as a matter of fact its great to draw inspiration from others. Au Revoir
Your exit should be as fabulous as your grand entrance and in a style all your own. Think outside the box and doing something unique and unpredictable like being whisked away on a vespa. Don’t worry, you don’t have to ruin that red carpet worthy hair-do by wearing a helmet. You can simply ride the two wheeled getaway to your real exit vehicle such as your own car a few blocks away. Lets be honest. those old vintage vehicles are great but not quite all they are cracked up to be. They normally have no air conditioning, unable to go over 40 mph, they have a tendency to be smelly and not to mention they cost a fortune for that one photo op of you and your hubs getting into the backseat. A vespa can provide just as many great photo ops if not more plus it is so very chic and European. Haven’t you always wanted to feel the wind in your hair as you hold on tight to your husband? Dream Destination: Marrakech, Morocco
“We made a deal ages ago; men, babies, it doesn’t matter we’re soul mates”. Ahhh, gotta love that preview! Does it almost brings tears to your eyes thinking about your leading ladies that will be standing by your side? The scenes from the movie look oh so amazing. Traveling half way around the globe with your absolute best friends to live or at least play like you live the lavish lifestyles of middle eastern royalty…on someone elses dime! What could be better? If you and your bridesmaids do not have a small fortune to spend on your bachelorette party(who does these days?) or a sugar daddy to cover the bill you can always dream for that one day when you and your besties will be globetrotting Sex & The City style.
It seems that 2010 has been the year of Middle Eastern inspiration for a multitude of designers, even reality tv shows such as Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty. And unless you have been living under a rock for the last three weeks or so you would see that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda hopped on that band wagon and high tailed it to the country of Morocco located atop the continent of Africa for a week of galavanting in one of the worlds most intriguing cities, Marrakech. Don’t let the movie script trick you, instead of filming in Abu Dhabi (which is where a good bit of the movie supposedly takes place.) they filmed in the bustling city of Marrakech.
So, what is it that makes this mystical city so alluring for jet setters and celebrities alike? It is a city that is so full of life that it is bursting at the seams with vibrance. It is a city that is emerged in culture and traditions of the past and the present. At night the bustling marketplace comes to life with storytellers, dancers, snake charmers, merchants and food. You can shop till you drop at the gold souks which are markets where price negotiations and haggling is a requirement. You can relax in world class spa’s and shop at the highest end designer boutiques. So, if culture, couture and camels are your thing you will absolutely adore Marrakech.
The marketplace comes alive as the sun sets in Marrakech
Cocktails anyone?

If It’s Good Enough For Carrie Bradshaw…..
Two days and counting until the long awaited Sex & The City 2 hits theaters! Reflecting back on some of my favorite trends that Carrie Bradshaw has introduced us to, one of my absolute favorites still remains the infamous “headfeather” at Carrie’s non-wedding to Mr. Big. Despite that introduction being over 2 years ago this trend is still holding strong among brides to be! A head feather on your wedding day is a way to add a little dash of “trend” to your traditional gown or channel your inner fashionista with an “oh so fabulous” head feather. Whatever the case, if its good enough for Carrie Bradshaw, well then it’s good enough for me!
You can coordinate your feather hair accessory with the theme or colors of your wedding.

It’s all about the texture!
If you research like we do, you will notice that a lot of designers are using basic fabrics to create texture and intricacy in their designs. Keep in mind that your silhouette can remain extremely simple as long as there are some fun details within the fabric. Details can be achieved by layering, ruffles, pleates, bows, knots, or even fabric flowers. The stiff, blinged out ball gown is out and the textured free flowing gown is IN!

Sometimes Being A “One Upper” Is The Ultimate Compliment
Everyone knows that one person, lets just say that one person that no matter how funny, wild, interesting or fabulous your story is they always have one that can beat it and they always choose to tell it immediately after yours leaving you with the second best. This particular person is referred to as a “One Upper” and their story will be the story that sticks out in the minds of those who were present. Its not that your story wasn’t interesting or funny or really any of those things that call for a memorable story its just that the “one uppers” story was just a tad bit better. This brings me to “Save The Date” cards as these days the creativity and humor that goes into Save The Dates just keep one upping the next! The ultimate compliment is for someone to keep your save the date on their refrigerator long after your wedding has occurred. Its one of those that is so clever and creative that its even a great conversational piece. This Save The Date below is one of the best that I have ever seen! Even though their wedding was June of last year,Kate and Austin still have prime space front and center on my refrigerator.

Make Him Your Grill Master
It’s no suprise that the most common dish consumed by newlyweds in their first year of marriage is casserole. Straight out of the gate as new wives we all have big ambitions of cooking a made from scratch “home cooked meal” for our husbands each and every night, and then life gets in the way and this whole domestic goddess thing doesn’t sound quite as glamorous as it first did. It loses its luster to say the least. What really happens is life. Life is what happens and you get busy at work and you have social obligations and the list goes on and on. One thing that may help lighten your load is to get your husband excited about his new grill and toys that you registered for. Convince him that he is your grill master and without even knowing it you have just made your life a whole lot easier!

New Wife Rule #1: Lingerie On The Honeymoon
You may not be fully aware of this, but adorning lingerie on your honeymoon is pretty much a right of passage that your husband is entitled to during the first week of your marriage. Love it or hate it, that man you now call your husband is entitled this privilege just like you felt you were entitled to a honeymoon. Do not fret my friend, this is a one time thing that is never fully expected of you again but will keep your hubby wishfully thinking for years to come.
Now that we have that out of the way its time to talk attire. When it comes to lingerie there seems to be two types of women: Those that love it and can totally rock it (the Giselle’s and Alessandra’s of the world) and those of us that feel outright silly as if we are dressing up for Halloween. If you feel absolutely ridiculous prancing around in some trashy looking getup or even dread the thought of it ,have no fear my friend because you are not alone. Thankfully there are numerous options available that will allow you to channel your inner fashionista AND prowess. Here are some of our favorites from Anthroplogie that have us swooning.

Gift Card Party: Once Faux Paus Now Fabulous!
You may be asking yourself is this tacky? Your mom may be cringing at the thought of it and lets not even get started with what your opinionated mother in law may be thinking. The answer is NO actually its not and quite frankly a gift card party is a brilliant idea. Thank goodness wedding “ettiquette” has loosened up and things that were in the past once considered faux paux are now the norm. Lets be real, its a win- win situation for both the recipients and the giver. I cant tell you how many times I have aimlessly wandered around Williams & Sonoma digging through the couples registry to find that everything worthy of giving for a party is already taken. I dont want them to open gifts in front of everyone and I am known as the girl that gave the turkey baster. I know that they registered for this turkey baster but I don’t want them to remember that I was the one that gave them that.. Why couldn’t I have been an early bird and have gotten the cool gift like the quesadilla maker or the mongrammed shams they registered for. Those are memorable gifts and ones to squeal over. I dont want the bride to write me a thank you note for a turkey baster- “everytime I am smothering a turkey with butter I will be reminded of you— NO THANK YOU! A gift card party levels the playing field for procrastinators such as myself! AND for the bride and groom that means NO returns! Whoo hoo! No lugging all the unwanted crap back to the stores to get a store credit. A win-win for all!
